APABA Silicon Valley Congratulates Hogene Choi on her promotion to Partner at Baker Botts

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley is proud to announce that Hogene L. Choi, our incoming 2016 President, has been promoted to partner at Baker Botts L.L.P., effective January 1, 2016. Hogene will be the first woman partner in Baker Botts’ Palo Alto office as well as its second diverse partner.

Hogene is currently serving as our 2015 Vice President of External Affairs and was a Vice President of Internal Affairs in 2014. She has served as a Board Member since 2013, as the Chair of the Membership & Events Committee since 2013, and as a Co-Chair of the Social Committee in 2012.

Hogene works on a range of intellectual property matters, focusing primarily on patent prosecution and patent portfolio counseling.  Prior to her legal career, she worked in the Silicon Valley as a software engineer and as a technical project manager.  Her current practice encompasses technologies in the areas of software, networking, and electronics.  Hogene is a Bay Area native and holds two degrees from the University of California: a J.D. from Hastings and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Berkeley.

We congratulate Hogene on her great achievement and applaud Baker Botts for promoting one of their most diverse classes of new partners in its 175 year history. Baker Botts has been a leader in the San Francisco Bay Area in promoting the inclusion of diverse attorneys in the legal profession and supporting diversity-focused bar associations such as APABA Silicon Valley.
