APABA Silicon Valley Applauds the Re-nomination of Judge Lucy H. Koh to the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley applauds President Biden’s re-nomination of Judge Lucy Haeran Koh to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

If confirmed, Judge Koh would become the first Korean-American woman and the second AAPI woman from California to serve on the Ninth Circuit.  Judge Koh has served as a United States District Judge for the Northern District of California since her appointment in 2010, and previously served as a judge for the California Superior Court for Santa Clara County. Prior to serving as a judge, she spent fifteen years practicing law in the private and public sectors after earning a J.D. and a bachelor's degree from Harvard.

Judge Koh is a lifetime member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley and previously held positions as a Board member and as a co-chair of our Civil Rights Committee.  Jen Murakami and Deanna Kwong, current Co-Presidents of APABA Silicon Valley, state: "We applaud President Biden’s commitment to diversifying the national courts to better reflect our country’s rich diversity.  Judge Koh is not only an exceptional jurist, but also an inspiring mentor to many and a fierce champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion.  APABA Silicon Valley applauds Judge Koh’s re-nomination and looks forward to her confirmation."
