  • Womble Bond DickinsonEvent Center 1801 Page Mill Road Palo Alto, CA, 94304 United States (map)

Join us on November 4, 2019  at 5:30 PM for the IP Committee Holiday Mixer to celebrate the beginning of the holidays and network with Asian Pacific American legal professionals from Silicon Valley.  Enjoy a presentation on artificial intelligence and intellectual property, refreshments/hors d'oeuvres, and catch up with fellow members and make new connections.  Find and connect with fellow members who will also be attending the 2019 NAPABA Convention in Austin.

Presentation on "Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property"

As computers and machines become more powerful each day, artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms are now capable of creating "art," "music," and can even formulate novel and non-obvious solutions to longstanding problems.  Can AIs now be “authors” and “inventors” under US intellectual property law?  If so, what are the ramifications of AI authors/inventors?  Chris Mammen will discuss this question, as well as other intriguing questions about the use of AI in creating and enforcing IP law.

Generously sponsored by Womble Bond Dickinson LLP. Womble Bond Dickinson is a transatlantic law firm with more than 400 partners and 1,000 lawyers based in 26 office locations in the US and across the UK. In Palo Alto, we have a strong team of experienced IP attorneys and patent agents that serve clients who rely on us to protect, maximize, and monetize their technology and intellectual property assets.
