Hogene practices patent prosecution, patent litigation, and patent counseling at Baker Botts LLP. Prior to her legal career, Hogene worked in Silicon Valley as a software engineer and as a technical project manager. Her current practice encompasses technologies in the areas of software, semiconductors, networking, and electronics. Hogene is a Bay Area native and holds two degrees from the University of California: a J.D. from Hastings and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Berkeley.

Jessica Ou is Corporate Counsel at Amazon Lab126.  Prior to joining Lab126, Jessica was an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where she was a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and practiced in the Information Technology and Data Privacy Group.  Jessica received her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2011, where she served as APILSA President and Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Technology Law Review.  Jessica is an APABA-SV Board Member and founder of APABA-SV's Women In Law Committee.

Mark Punzalan is the principal attorney at Punzalan Law, P.C. Mark is experienced in complex litigation in federal and state courts throughout the country. Mark has represented businesses, consumers, investors, and public entities concerning many types of legal matters, including commercial disputes, unfair and deceptive business practices, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, fraud allegations, antitrust, and data privacy. Mark graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Minor in English. He received his Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he was a Committee Chair on the Honors Moot Court Board and received the Best Brief and Cali Excellence for the Future awards in Appellate Advocacy.


Kirupa Pushparaj | kirupa@squareup.com

Kirupa Pushparaj is the director of intellectual property at Square, Inc., where he helps build Square’s patent and trademark portfolios, and also manages various IP litigation, copyright, domain, and trade secret issues.  Before working at Square, Kirupa was patent counsel for Lab126, the digital products arm of Amazon.com, and also practiced intellectual property law at Perkins Coie LLP prior to that.  Before becoming an attorney, Kirupa was a design engineer at Intel Corp., working on circuit design and semiconductor process technology.

Isabella Shin is a workers’ compensation associate at Jones, Clifford, Johnson, Dehner, Wong, Morrison, Sheppard & Bell, LLP in San Francisco. She received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, where she served as Co-President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) and as Technical Editor for the Santa Clara Law Review. Isabella previously interned for Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren and was a Policy Research Fellow at the Panetta Institute for Public Policy. She received her B.A. in Philosophy from San Jose State University, with a focus on ethics and social justice.


Christine Wang | christineewang@gmail.com

Christine is Managing Director of Black Letter Discovery’s San Francisco office. She is responsible for managing and developing new and existing client relationships, negotiating contracts related to client services and eDiscovery management, as well as working with the CEO to identify strategic initiatives and growth opportunities. Prior to joining BLD, she was IP counsel at a start-up software company where she managed the company’s patent portfolio and worked on implementing various intellectual property strategies. Christine received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law where she served as Technical Editor for the Santa Clara Computer & Technology Law Journal, and her B.S. in both Biochemistry and Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of Washington. Christine is a member of the California State Bar and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
