2019 ASIAN LAW ALLIANCE FELLOW SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT
I am a first-generation, Indonesian-American from San Jose, California. As a rising 2L who will be attending Santa Clara University School of Law, I am the first in my family to attend law school or higher education. Prior to law school, I worked for a nonprofit organization for two years working alongside and advocating for a variety of indigent and marginalized individuals and families, ranging from low-income, chronically homeless, to victims of domestic violence. Ever since, I have remained solidly committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others and the community at large. This past summer, I interned as a law clerk at Asian Law Alliance doing an array of legal assignments and tasks. The clients I worked with were victims of domestic violence as well as those faced with landlord/tenant disputes. I also assisted in the immigration clinics. The invaluable experience that I received from my internship have undoubtedly served to strengthen my commitment to the interest of the public. I intend to use my legal education as a tool to acquire justice for those who have been wronged and to zealously advocate, acting as a voice for the unheard.
